Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) December 5, 2007
The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC) announced today that Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) Magazine selected PNC as one of the 10 Best Corporate Citizens in the Financial industry, according to the magazine's fall issue.
CRO Magazine is the publication for the CRO Organization, made up of individuals at publicly traded companies who manage compliance, legal, ethics, human resources and investor relations functions.
"PNC's commitment to being a good corporate citizen can be seen in our Institutional Shareholder Services corporate governance score--one of the highest among banks--and our commitment to the community," said Donna Peterman, chief communications officer for PNC. "Our support for green building and philanthropy, as seen through initiatives like the construction of our Green BranchesTM and our signature early education program, PNC Grow Up Great, make a difference in the neighborhoods in which we do business."
To determine the 10 Best Corporate Citizens in the Financial category, CRO used a broad base of data to evaluate a variety of financial services companies, including banks, insurance providers and investment companies. IW Financial performed the statistical analysis of each company in eight categories: environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, lobbying, philanthropy, corporate governance and financial.
"This industry-by-industry approach is a new one for us, as we have ventured beyond the 100 Best Corporate Citizens 2007 list, published in our Jan/Feb issue, tweaked some categories and methodologies, and assessed how corporations measure-up against their sector peers," said Dennis Schaal, in the CRO Magazine article. "The CRO's 10 Best Corporate Citizens by Industry 2007 cuts through any hype and haze, giving clear visibility to corporate citizenship leaders by industry."
