Chocolate lovers everywhere are invited to get a delicious taste of Israel by participating in the first-ever "chocolate tour" of Israel, set for February 3-11, 2008. "Chocolate at Heart" will visit boutique chocolate companies, offer participants hands-on experience in chocolate sculpting and production, and encourage them to indulge in some of Israel's finest chocolate delicacies.
The sweet journey is the brainchild of two avowed chocoholics, Enid Moskowitz of New York and Jerusalemite Adina Mishkoff, whose passion for chocolate has inspired their discovery of many fascinating culinary experiences dotting Israel's map. The resulting nine-day "Chocolate at Heart" tour, operated by Modi'in Tours, is an unprecedented excursion into the little-known world of Israeli chocolate.
To balance the indulgence factor, the tour will include several volunteer activities with charity organizations that aid Israel's needy. Scheduled activities include helping pack parcels for a Jerusalem-based food bank and picking crops to be donated to the poor.
Highlights of the itinerary include visits to boutique chocolate companies in the Golan Heights and Netanya, chocolate-making demonstrations by master chocolatiers, walking tours of picturesque Zichron Ya'akov and Safed, visits to a date factory and pomegranate winery, and more. Accommodations are in luxury and boutique hotels.
"The tour is suitable for first-time tourists to Israel, returning visitors and even residents of Israel," says initiator Adina Mishkoff. "Exploring Israel's little-known, cottage chocolate industry, combined with a bit of charity time, is an enticing combination for everyone!"
