Condos on Chautauqua Lake Go Vertical

A typically nice fall kept construction on schedule for Chautauqua Lake's newest condominium development. Vertical construction of the 40 homes, half of which have already been pre-sold, is now well underway. The project is expected to be completed by spring of next year allowing homeowners to enjoy the Chautauqua Lake and Chautauqua Institution summer season.

The typically pleasant fall weather along the shores of Chautauqua Lake allowed construction of the Bemus Bay condominiums to move forward "right on schedule" according to the project developers.

Initial sitework and foundation installation has been completed at the 3-acre site, and construction has now "gone vertical" with the framework nearing completion for one of the two buildings that will host the 40 new lakefront condominium homes.

Cleveland, Ohio-based co-developers Lee Chilcote and Paul Goldberg are pleased with the steady pace of construction.

"It is terrific to have the construction proceeding as planned," Chilcote said. "Our future homeowners are pleased and excited as well, I'm sure."

Nearly half of the condominiums have already been sold and construction is scheduled to be completed in time for homeowners to enjoy next summer in their new homes on the lake.

"As things currently stand, we are right on schedule," said Goldberg, noting that framing of the second building will be starting soon.

The two buildings are named Columbia and Browning. They have been designed with Victorian architectural features to resemble two hotels bearing the same names that stood on the site in the early 1900s.

"It was very important to us to develop this project in a manner that complimented the unique and historic character of the village" that was founded in 1806, Goldberg explained.

Located just 1½ hours from Buffalo, 2¼ hours from Cleveland, 2½ hours from Pittsburgh and 3 hours from Toronto, Chilcote noted the Chautauqua Lake region offers relaxation and recreation year around with boating and sailing, fishing and hunting, golf courses, several winter ski resorts, a casino, many farm wineries and a wide array of cultural events and attractions all nearby.

"Regardless of the season," he said, "Chautauqua is just a wonderful place to be."
