Air-Trekkers Announces the First Ever Internet Big Air World Challenge

Air-Trekkers, a leading North American supplier of the revolutionary jumping stilts, will be holding the first ever internet Big Air World Challenge. This cyber extreme sports meet will be held in May, 2008 in one of the most unique sports settings ever envisioned--the Internet.

Bend, OR (PRWEB) December 6, 2007 -- Air-Trekkers, a leading North American supplier of the revolutionary jumping stilts, will be holding the first ever internet Big Air World Challenge. This cyber extreme sports meet will be held in May, 2008 in one of the most unique sports settings ever envisioned--the Internet.

Air-Trekkers founder, Gary Armstrong, a former US national team track athlete, is combining the concept of the annual Extreme Sports Games with the advanced internet of technology used by YouTube. "We are hosting 4 separate events which involve the basic skills employed by jumping stilts users", states Armstrong. "We want to see who can execute the most creative jumps, run the fastest, and leap the farthest".

Jumping stilts were originally developed by Alexander Bock hailing from Germany. This unique exercise and sporting invention is raging across Europe and now has made the leap over the Atlantic into the US through the efforts of Armstrong. "Air-Trekkers' US awareness has grown exponentially since Zurich, the Swiss Insurance Company, featured Air-Trekkers in a TV commercial," mentions Armstrong. "They're a huge innovation in human mobility."

The Big Air World Challenge is unlike any other sporting event because the participants will film their own participation and send in their video to be reviewed and graded. The events involve the same types of skills developed by snow and skate boarders. The age range for those getting involved with the challenge will be limited to sixteen to thirty years old. The deadline for video submissions is May 16th. Public voting on the finalists in each category will begin on May 23rd. The winners will be announced on May 30th.
