This gift-giving season, we want to provide consumers with a healthy and meaningful gift idea
Joplin, MO (PRWEB) December 6, 2007
MyMedLab announces the release of their "Gift of Health" program in time for the upcoming holiday season. The program enables consumers to purchase a gift certificate that is redeemable for a variety of health and wellness tests. These tests, once only available to physicians, can be purchased directly from MyMedLab, a leading provider of direct to consumer testing. The program is designed to respond to the growing number of consumers getting more involved in their health care. MyMedLab provides a cost-effective, convenient, and confidential way to access this valuable information.
"This gift-giving season, we want to provide consumers with a healthy and meaningful gift idea," said MyMedLab CEO and Founder David R. Clymer. "Our consumers continually tell us how our simple and affordable service has empowered them to get involved in their health. For the first time user, this gift creates a baseline or starting point for future comparison. For others, the information provides a way to manage the treatment of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. We built on this theme by creating a way for consumers to share the "Gift of Health" with others."
MyMedLab provides consumers with direct access to a growing list of health and wellness lab tests organized into custom wellness profiles. The gift buyer chooses a specific test or dollar amount then prints the Gift Certificate directly from their home computer. The receiver visits MyMedLab online, locates a collection site in their area, chooses a Wellness Profile based on their age, gender, and family history, and completes the order. The process creates the Digital Lab Order needed to visit the local lab at their convenience, all without a physician's office visit or appointment.
Each laboratory test order is approved and reviewed by a licensed physician in their state. Results, when complete, are uploaded into their own MyMedLab Personal Health Record (PHR). Inside the PHR, the consumer can access detailed information about their test results including links to the National Library of Medicine. It also provides a secure place to store private health information along side their lab results. Having all this information in one place makes it easy to share with trusted health care advisors while keeping it private from everyone else.
