Author Composes Works of Art That Showcase Daily Life

Unique and well-crafted poems expose life to honest scrutiny.

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) December 8, 2007 -- Eminently suited to offer rhymed musings about daily life, author Brent Shaw has done just that in Distillations Volume One: Brightest Green (paperback, 978-1-60477-129-9; hardcover, 978-1-60477-135-0), a collection of poems about the 53-year-old poet's many varied experiences. Composed largely with the Christian worldview in mind, this book showcases the unconventional poet's unique insights and optimistic messages about nature, humanity, family, death, life, the Bible, humor, Christian living, evolution, God, romance and much more.

Says Shaw, "This book of unique and well-crafted poems exposes various aspects of life to the light of inquisitive and honest scrutiny, much as one holds up a large diamond in order to examine its myriad facets in all their individual, breathtaking beauty."

Involved in creative writing since he was in early grammar school, Shaw has been writing original guitar music and lyrics and poems for decades. He intends to produce future volumes of poetry under the escutcheon "Distillations" and is already hard at work penning Volume Two: Offerings, which will make its debut in the near future. Until then, Shaw has high hopes for his very first publication: "I desire that all who read these poems will benefit not only from their aesthetic qualities, but also from the unique insights and optimistic messages contained within each," the author says. "It is hoped that readers will return to these works of art again and again."

A 24-year resident of Farmville, Virginia, Bret Shaw has been diagnosed bipolar and is learning to live with this mental illness through medications, counseling and the love and support of his wife, Jo Leslie, and his family in Christ at Faith Bible Fellowship.

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 4,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order Distillations Volume One through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
