Evonik Donates $11,000 To Schools, Community Organizations
Grants from global innovation leader marks company's new corporate identity.
Parsippany, NJ (Vocus/PRWEB ) December 7, 2007 -– Evonik Industries, whose chemical operations were formally known as Degussa, has presented educational institutions, libraries and volunteer organizations across America more than $11,000 in grants to introduce its new identity.
John Rolando, president of Evonik Degussa Corporation, said the contributions are Evonik’s way of celebrating the name change with its neighbors in 22 municipalities across the country and continue a company-wide commitment to the communities where Evonik employees live and work.
“We want to celebrate the creation of Evonik Industries, the innovative industrial group with operations in chemicals, energy and real estate and a global leader in specialty chemicals,” said Rolando. “Evonik Industries is active in over 100 countries around the world. Our strengths are creativity, specialization, continuous self-renewal, and reliability.”
Rolando said Evonik’s donations were primarily to further science education -- to purchase laboratory equipment and supplies, fund student competitions, and support other educational opportunities -- but also included grants to libraries and to a volunteer ambulance association.
“While Evonik is celebrating its new corporate identity, it is also emphasizing the importance of the chemical industry. “Chemistry is a cornerstone of our society,” Rolando said. “Without it, many of the products, conveniences and medicines to which we’ve become accustomed would not exist.”
Evonik's Chemicals Business Area offers a broad portfolio of products and solutions, with a wide range of applications in the automotive, plastics and rubber industries. Evonik also has customers in the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, cosmetics, paint, sealant and adhesive sectors.
