Kidnapping expert and former CIA officer Joel Beyer will delve into the shadowy world of international kidnapping and what is being done to stop it.

We will learn about the kinds of people who are behind these crimes, what drives them and what America and the international community is doing about it. ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Joel Beyer is a retired CIA officer with 35 years of experience as a Chief of Station in several Latin American countries. After retiring Mr. Beyer was employed, inter alia, as Security Manager for Occidental Petroleum in Pakistan; Security Director for Shell Group, Colombia; and de facto Security Manager for ECOPETROL, the national oil company of Colombia. Mr. Beyer also served as a senior consultant for Control Risks, a British security consulting firm, in Colombia and in the Philippines as General Manager. He was subsequently employed by Business Risks International/Pinkerton as a senior consultant in the management of kidnap and extortion cases worldwide. Mr. Beyer is a faculty member at Henley-Putnam University, teaching courses in security management.
