Wine Societies: Taking the Online Wine World to the Next Level

The cyber-future of wine revealed on Winesocieties.com

Wine Societies plans to add innovations regularly

Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2007 -- Online wine sites have not changed much since the Internet bubble burst. That is, until now. Wine review sites and social networks are popping up everywhere. With a Web 2.0 perspective in mind, Wine Societies is combining a vintage wine bazaar with a savvy community of wine enthusiasts, and has created a true online marketplace for wine lovers.

A New Marketplace

A first of its kind, Wine Societies enables private collectors and enthusiasts to monetize their personal collections by selling or auctioning vintage wines to wine retailers and wholesalers and simultaneously - some would say democratically - setting prices and informing the market. A new transparency will transform the wine sales. Licensed wineries, retailers and wholesalers will have increased access to the private collections of discerning connoisseurs and wineries will be able to auction or sell reserve and specialty wines to wholesalers. Similarly, retailers will have increased access to wholesalers.

An Open Community

Catering to all aspects of wine culture, winesocieties.com hooks visitors from day one. First-timers and old pros find like-minded individuals and communities dedicated to sharing their views and offering blogs on the nuances of wine and wine culture. The latest trends, products and events populate the daily news features, while an array of features and tools enable visitors to record and store information, photos and videos related to wine and wine culture.

"Wine Societies plans to add innovations regularly," said Mark L. Feldman, a Wine Societies board member and advisor and CEO of Destiny Bay Wines, an importer of luxury, collectors' wines. "The intent is to stimulate greater understanding, opportunity, and excitement, as well as broader participation of consumers and small players in the world's wine market."

Wine Societies has no subscription fees, membership terms or contracts of any sort. Becoming a member is free, with no obligation.

"We're very excited about Wine Societies. Our mission was to create a destination that fosters community for wine lovers while offering a marketplace to legally monetize their vintage wine collections. Wine Societies is sort of a Facebook meets eBay with a specific focus on wine and wine culture," said Brian Warren, VP of Marketing at Wine Societies.
