Flower Mound, TX (PRWEB) December 19, 2007
Genuitec, LLC, a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation, today announced that users of its popular, free "Pulse" product will now be able to utilize a profile based on Google's Android SDK - a software stack focused on mobile devices. Android Development Tools (ADT) will come preconfigured to run with one click in Pulse's "Popular" profile area.
"Pulse is not - and has never been - intended to be used only for Java tools," said Todd Williams, vice president of technology for Genuitec. "Developers in the embedded space can now take advantage of the full stack of software Pulse has to offer, and easily manage their varying profiles."
The addition of Android showcases the community aspect of Pulse, and how tools demanded by developers can quickly and easily be added to the growing software catalog.
"I contacted the Pulse team over the weekend about adding Android," said Ed Burnette, author of ZDNet's Dev Connection blog. "On Tuesday, Android is in the catalog and available to the world. That's great service."
In addition to the Android profile, Pulse has added many other open source and free tools to the software catalog, like TPTP, Ruby Development Tools, Groovy, Jira and other plugins requested by the community. Other notable improvements in the latest release include proxy server support, user-interface enhancements and upgrades to download reliability and speed.
Supplementing the catalog updates and usability enhancements, the Pulse refresh includes support for developers using Mac and Linux operating systems. Previously, support had been for the Windows platform only.
Pulse is a free, rapidly-growing service to the Eclipse community created and maintained by Genuitec, LLC (creators of MyEclipse). Pulse will be refreshed on a monthly basis for the next several months, with the 1.0 release coming in early 2008.
