Ongoing salute to excellence in HD programming recognizes each of the 44 high-definition services iO TV customers receive at no additional cost.

Cablevision Systems Corp. today is recognizing Treasure HD as its HD Channel of the Day, as part of the ongoing "44 Days in HD, on iO TV" countdown. Available to Cablevision's iO TV customers on channel 724, Treasure HD is a channel dedicated to what people treasure in life. From antiques to adventures, Treasure HD presents original, innovative, entertaining, high-definition pursuit of people and their passions, exploring fascinating individuals who live their dreams and inspire the rest of us to find ourselves.

During the countdown, Cablevision is recognizing each of the 44 high-definition services iO customers receive at no additional cost, including all nine local professional sports teams in HD. Unlike its satellite and phone company competitors, Cablevision does not impose additional fees and charges on customers who want to "see" in HD.

"Treasure HD is a great example of the quality and diversity of high-definition programming iO customers enjoy."

Featured Programming for December 20, 2007 includes:

  • 5 p.m. CHASING HISTORY HOME: William Shakespeare

Viewers get an insider's look into the homes of legendary historical figures. Hosted by Cat Greenleaf, each episode delivers the compelling stories of these individuals who led extraordinary lives and captures the homes and artifacts in stunning high definition. Each week Cat is joined by industry experts and those who are charged with the conservation of each treasure and its memory. Together they tell the dynamic stories of these people who through their talent, inventiveness or heroism have changed history and left an indelible mark on our culture. This episode explores the homes of William Shakespeare, known as the greatest writer in the English language. Viewers are taken to Stratford upon Avon to see the places where he was born, died and also the Globe Theatre to experience the theatre as he is famous for.

  • 8 p.m. TREASURE DIVERS: EPISODE 6 - "BIMINI"

Treasure Divers is the first HD television series to provide an inside look at the little known and rarely filmed world of underwater treasure excavation. Throughout the series, shipwreck treasure historian Carl 'Fizz' Fismer and dive instructor Captain Gary Mace will troll a host of underwater wrecks in search of riches, both monetary and historic. In this episode, the "Treasure Divers" are contacted by the Bahamas Ministry of Shipwrecks to help search for sunken treasure of the coast of the Bimini islands.

Cablevision's high-definition line-up has more than doubled over the last year, and the company has the capacity today to deliver hundreds of channels of high-definition programming over its fully-deployed fiber optic network that passes 4.6 million homes and hundreds of thousands of businesses in the New York metropolitan area.. More than 900,000 of Cablevision's nearly 2.6 million iO TV customers have at least one high-definition television and HD-cable set-top box in the home.

In an effort to drive consumer awareness and continued adoption of HDTV, Cablevision recently launched a retail partnership with P.C. Richard & Son, the New York metropolitan area's leading consumer appliance and electronics retailer, which allows customers to conveniently sign up for all three Optimum products - iO TV digital cable, Optimum Online high-speed Internet access and Optimum Voice phone service - at 35 P.C. Richard & Son retail locations in Cablevision's service territory. Cablevision is also providing its award-winning digital cable service to more than 30 store locations, so customers can experience the best in high-definition programming while they shop for a new HD television set.

Nearly 83 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to more than 360 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 48 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 1,800 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, 44 high-definition programming services and groundbreaking interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive.
