Set amidst the barbed-wire borders of pre-1967 Jerusalem, Leora Skolkin-Smith's brief novel follows fourteen-year-old Liana Bialik on a trip to Israel with her mother and sister in 1963. "Edges, O Israel, O Palestine" will be featured at this year's Northern Arizona Book Festival, 2007.

Ms. Skolkin-Smith will also be appearing at the LA Times Festival of the Book, April 27-29.
"Edges" is set in a pre-1967 Israel, during the Cold War. Characters are drawn from Israel's long-forgotten past, members of the 1940's Haganah and Jewish underground who find themselves displaced amidst the chaotic and complex tensions of an Israel just beginning to modernize and expand.
"Edges: O Israel O Palestine" was selected by Grace Paley and edited for "Glad Day Books".
