Polly Bergen to Narrate Reading of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, the Musical
Polly Bergen, the original Elizabeth Bennet in Broadway's First Impressions, will be the guest narrator at the reading of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, the musical directed by Mark Lamos. The reading will take place on February 15th & 16th at New 42nd Street Studios in New York.
(PRWEB) February 11, 2007 -- Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, the musical written by Lindsay Warren Baker & Amanda Jacobs will star Polly Bergen as Narrator, Catherine Brunell as Lydia, Marilyn Caskey as Mrs. Bennet, Walter Charles as Mr. Bennet, Colin Donnell as Mr. Darcy, Sara Ford as Elizabeth Bennet, Jessica Grove as Jane Bennet, Jayne Paterson as Jane Austen & Aaron Tveit as Mr. Bingley.
What makes this musical unique is that the writers have managed to combine three worlds:
- Jane Austen's World -- where she wrote and developed the characters behind a closed door
- The world of Pride & Prejudice -- where the characters come to life
- The combination of the two worlds -- where Jane Austen writes the story, interacts with and is inspired by her characters.
This is the story of Pride & Prejudice. It is a story of love -- the love an author has for her characters and the love the characters have for one another.
Following the 2004 workshop with the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY the show had its world premiere in 2006 with The Ohio Light Opera. The reading is directed by Mark Lamos with Fred Lassen as Musical Director. Casting by Tara Rubin, General Management, Charlotte Wilcox Company, Producer, Lori Bajorek & Executive Producer, Donald C Farber, Esq..
