Cecil De Loach has announced the appointment of Jason De Loach as Winemaker at Hook & Ladder Winery. Jason, Cecil's grandson, works alongside Christine De Loach, Michael De Loach and Sarah De Loach at the Russian River Valley facility where three generations of De Loaches produce estate-grown wines from their nearly 400 acres of vineyards.
Jason joined Hook & Ladder earlier in 2006 as the Cellarmaster. Prior to that, he spent five years as Cellarmaster at Balletto Vineyards, a winery and custom crush facility in the Russian River Valley. Before joining Balletto, Jason worked at De Loach Vineyards, formerly owned by the De Loach family, as well as serving an internship at De Martino Winery in Chile. At Hook & Ladder, Jason will work under the guidance of his grandfather.
"Jason has been around wine and worked in wineries and vineyards since he was 14 years old," notes Cecil De Loach. "He's risen to the challenge and proven that he can do the job."
"It's a fantastic opportunity," explains the 27-year-old Jason De Loach. "I'm excited about making wine from the terrific vineyards we have. I have some big shoes to fill, and I'm looking forward to proving to my grandfather that I'm the man for the job."
Cecil De Loach and family founded Hook & Ladder Winery in 2004, after more than thirty years previously making wine at their namesake winery. The new winery is based on the family's estate vineyards located throughout the Russian River Valley.
