Houston Becomes Center of Data Center Universe
During the 2007 SMArt Sessions conference on business process automation in Houston, TX, on Feb. 21, 2007, Software and Management Associates bestowed its annual Automation Innovation Award on Tim Gilman of Synergent. Mr. Gilman was honored for his ingenuity in deploying OpCon/xps, the only multi-platform information technology (IT) automation tool that supports virtually all computer platforms in production today. The conference also addressed ways of maintaining business continuity in the wake of natural disasters.
(PRWEB) February 22, 2007 -- This week, some of North America's leading Chief Information Officers and data center professionals will descend on Houston, TX. They're coming for the second annual SMArt Sessions hosted by Software and Management Associates (SMA) to see the latest advances in business process automation.
SMArt Sessions provides a forum where customers and software developers can discuss the challenges - and craft solutions - facing the information technology (IT) industry. Because SMA is privately owned, it can quickly implement ideas generated at SMArt Sessions.
By answering to clients, not stockholders, SMA has fostered a unique, corporate culture that encourages proactive creativity. And by responding to calls with technicians fluent in the languages of SMA's global customers, SMA makes its client list feel more like a fan club.
During the SMArt Sessions, SMA President Michael Taylor will present the 2006 Automation Innovation Award to Tim Gilman, Operations Manager of Synergent. Headquartered in Westbrook, Maine, Synergent has been a leading supplier of products and services to credit unions since 1971.
Mr. Gilman leveraged SMA OpCon/xps automation software to speed up processing in Synergent's data center by 75 percent, to eliminate manual processing errors and to serve more than 50 credit unions with a program designed to serve one.
"No matter how many clients we put on our new system," says Mr. Gilman, "with OpCon/xps, each can pick any combination of services it desires without creating any processing problems for us. Within two weeks, we were automating processes that many other large companies had been unable to automate."
In choosing Mr. Gilman for this year's award, Mr. Taylor praised Mr. Gilman's leadership and ingenuity in demonstrating the merit of SMA's automation technology. "Tim has shown how OpCon/xps can help an organization quickly adapt to an ever evolving business environment and exceed all of their service level agreements," Mr. Taylor said.
SMArt Sessions will also feature a talk by Danny Mastre of Noridian Mutual Insurance Company, a previous winner of the Automation Innovation Award, who will discuss how OpCon/xps helped Noridian's data center maintain business continuity after a flood without missing a beat.
Other previous winners of the Automation Innovation award include: Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, Honeywell Space Systems and Bessemer Trust.
The extraordinary award itself is made from limestone quarried in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, and engraved by Michele and Philip Hoggatt of Carved Stone, Inc.
