After a Family Tragedy, a Veteran Photography Writer Provides a Firsthand Account of the Power of Family Snapshots

Based on recent experience, the editor of Adorama Camera's unique AIRC - the Adorama Imaging Resource Center - wants consumers to make sure they're shooting plenty of photographs of their loved ones.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 28, 2007 -- In an emotional article published today, "Thanks For The Memories: Make Photographing Your Family A Top Priority,"
AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center editor Mason Resnick talks about the power of family photographs in times of tragedy and crisis

The article is based on tragic firsthand experience: Early this year, Resnick's father, Professor Seymour Resnick, died after a battle with Colon cancer. Resnick relates the role photographs had in his father's final days, and how simple snapshots have helped his family deal with their loss.

this one came from the heart
"I've been writing about photography for over 20 years," notes Resnick. "But I've never felt the power of photography as strongly as I did in the immediate aftermath of my father's death. I realized in a new way how important family snapshots are, and I wanted to share the experience as a way to encourage others, no matter what their level of photographic skill, to take lots of photographs of their loved ones."

Unlike most articles in the AIRC, which consist of picture-taking advice, tours of popular digital cameras, equipment guides and Photoshop techniques for a wide audience from snapshooters to professional photographers, "this one came from the heart," Resnick explains.

Resnick, who joined Adorama as the editor of its unique online magazine, the AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center, in 2005, is the former managing editor of Popular Photography magazine, and has worked as a writer and editor for Modern Photography, Photo District News, Shutterbug, and briefly wrote the Camera column for the Sunday New York Times. You can see his writing, along with articles by a team of world-renowned photography experts, at www.adorama.com/airc (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&refby=press_memories).

Online photo magazine at a retail site?

AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center is quickly becoming a choice destination for photographers at all levels of experience who want to improve their picture-taking and image-editing skills. AIRC has over 250 how-to photography articles, buying guides and picture-selling advice, as well as daily breaking news about the photography industry, written by a team of top photography experts.

Why would Adorama, a well-respected New York-based camera retailer, publish what is essentially an online photo magazine? Resnick says, "we believe the more information and knowledge we can provide, the more people will trust Adorama both as a reliable information source and as a place where they can feel comfortable buying their photographic gear."
