ROCK TO STOP: A ROCK AND ROLL ART SHOW TO HELP STOP VIOLENCE Kicks Off in Southern California
What happens when two women, one a savvy business owner and one a determined violent crime survivor, team up for positive change? Rock To Stop...violence, a rock and roll art show is founded and kicks off on October 11, 2007.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 3, 2007 -- Rock To Stop started when savvy spaViolet owner, Loraine-Dale Hall, began to take an interest in Michelle Renee's real life story. Kidnapped and held hostage for 14 hours with explosives taped to her and her daughters bodies, Michelle was forced to rob the bank she managed to save her daughters life. Michelle Renee is the Founder of the Violent Trauma Awareness Project and is the author of Held Hostage: The True Story of a Mother and Daughter's Kidnapping.
"Michelle came to work for me as the Manager of spaViolet two years ago. I had no idea what she and her daughter had gone through or what she was doing with her life outside of the spa. Michelle, a single mother, had to find a way to re-build their life. When I discovered she was doing all that she could to reach out to help others afther everything she and her daughter had been through, I was inspired and wanted to help." Says spaViolet owner Loraine-Dale Hall.
Loraine-Dale had a plan. With her rocker style and connections in the art and music industry, she began to contact people on Michelle's behalf to organize an event to raise money for Michelle's organization. But when Loraine-Dale approached Michelle with the concept of a one time event, Michelle took it further and asked if she would like to be the co-founder of Rock To Stop, a non-profit organization that will host rock and roll art benefits annually.
"This year the theme is Rock To Stop...violence." Michelle explains. "Next year we hope to organize an even larger event with well known musical performers for Rock To Stop...hunger or another area of need we feel deeply about. Of course helping violent crime and trauma victims is very close to my heart. But there is so much need in the world. I really want to do whatever we can to make a positive impact on the lives of those suffering in other ways as well."
