Michigan Brothers' Artwork Helps to Pay Tribute at Second Annual Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson 'In Pursuit of Excellence' Gala
Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson honor Milton I. Schwartz at the "In Pursuit of Excellence" Gala, and present him with a precious symbol of significant values being celebrated. The custom-designed sculpture was created by Glenn Wachler and Link Wachler, international award-winning designer, of Wachler Ultimate Expression.
Las Vegas, NV and Birmingham, MI (PRWEB) May 13, 2007 -- When Milton I. Schwartz was honored for starting a now-thriving Hebrew academy in Nevada, it was only natural that two Michigan brothers took the opportunity to pay tribute, as well.
"We wanted to design a piece that really symbolized Schwartz's contributions to the Jewish community," said Glenn Wachler of Wachler Ultimate Expression. "We created a sterling silver and 18 karat yellow gold yad, [or, Torah place marker, specifically for Schwartz, with characteristics that embody the values for which his life has become so known and recognized."
Schwartz, who resides in Nevada, is known to be one of the leading philanthropists within the Jewish population. A military veteran, businessman and visionary, Schwartz's most renowned humanitarian effort has been establishing the Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy (MISHA) in Summerlin, Nevada -- the very effort for which he was recently honored at the Second Annual Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson In Pursuit of Excellence Gala at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The evening was highlighted when the Adelsons took the stage to present Schwartz with the yad from the Wachler brothers. Upon the yad, the words "In Pursuit of Excellence" had been permanently inscribed.
"It was an honor to be able to help the Adelsons present Schwartz with such a meaningful gift," said Glenn, who had been asked by one of the event's fundraising personnel to participate after she'd seen Wachler Ultimate Expression Family Tree of Life sculptures in a national magazine. The Wachler brothers have a longstanding history of excellence themselves, as well. Part owner of David Wachler and Sons Jewellers in downtown Birmingham, Link has been designing jewelry since the age of 13. A few years back, he and his youngest brother, Glenn cofounded Wachler Ultimate Expression, a business which specializes in creating personalized jewelry and sculpture with the sole purpose of celebrating meaningful relationships.
Among their most popular designs are LifeLinks, small, wearable motifs, (think of the old-fashioned charm bracelet concept), that symbolize important values and ethics in the wearer's life. Glenn and Link worked their LifeLinks motifs into Schwartz's yad by creating a wrist strap of the LifeLinks. The links in the yad created for Schwartz encompassed the values of philanthropy, family, Jewish values, learning, legacy and the Chai. With the attention to detail and symbolism the Wachler brothers put into each piece they make, their yads and LifeLinks are quickly becoming popular throughout the country. Recently, they were commissioned by a couple in Pennsylvania to create yads for each of their five, young grandchildren.
"The couple wanted to make sure their grandchildren had something meaningful for each of their bar and bat mitzvahs -- whether or not their grandparents were still around," said Glenn.
