Claire Simone's New CD "Wows" Critics
Once in a generation, a singer/songwriter of the calibre of Claire Simone emerges who can take possession of and breathe new life into old standards or give a new song wings.
London, UK (PRWEB) May 16, 2007 -- Once in a generation, a singer/songwriter emerges who can take possession of and breathe new life into old standards or give a new song wings.

Claire Simone is one of those artists, not just another prefabricated singer manufactured to be slotted into a specific market. She served her apprenticeship in the rough and tumble 'get hot or go home' pubs and clubs of Wales where the bottom-line standard for singers is that of legendary native figures like Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey.
Moving through the years, her career has encompassed backing vocals for bands and fronting a funk band as well as pursuing her solo career. These experiences have given Ms Simone a commanding confidence that she imparts in the vocals on her new CD.
Ms Simone's CD contains a mixture of styles showcasing her talent and versatility as a consummate songstress. Her unique interpretations of old classics such as the Peggy Lee tune "Fever," and Al Green's "Ain't No Sunshine" gives them a new vitality and presence. Her talent as a singer/songwriter is also evidenced on the soulful foot-stomper "Burning."
"Working the club circuit for 12 years gave me the edge," said Ms Simone. "It's a tough business, and it was either learn to communicate with the audience and deliver on a personal level or go out and get a steady job because they wouldn't have you back."
Her new CD is been well received by the critics with comments as follows.
Black Owl Music: "Simone's fine way with such a wide embrace of material reminds this writer of the great Etta James. Simone's band in works graceful and faithful arrangements to the mainstream jazz sound of the '40s and '50s, which gives Simone ample room to exercise her soaring range and deliver a dazzling, seductive, and warm tour de force."
G.C. Glasser: "Claire is one of the very few people I have heard from the UK who I think could do well in the highly competitive American market - she's got what it takes -- "Dreams" brought tears to my eyes and sent a chill up my spine, and she followed up with each subsequent tune. I was astonished!"
Claire's voice has been described as:
"Dazzling and seductive…"
"Her soaring range and commanding presence weaves an irresistible spell and draws the listener into her world."
"Although Claire's vocals are powerful and raw, she is truly unmistakable and has a beauty."
Upon listening to Ms. Simone's new CD, one realises that she is no ordinary 'here today and gone tomorrow' recording artist that is so common in today's market.
