Asbury Park, NJ (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) May 23, 2007 -- deSoL, the Asbury Park, NJ-based band that mixes rock hooks with Latin rhythms is readying On My Way, an album of all new material sung in English, Spanish and "Spanglish" to be released August 7th through saZon Records/Two22 Music with distribution through ADA. The album release is preceded this month by the track "Sing It All Night" that is being serviced to Triple A radio stations next month.

Over the course of their six years together, deSol has scored some notable successes both on stage and on radio. They've toured extensively and have been on concert bills with R.E.M., The Legendary Wailers, Los Lonely Boys, Blues Traveler, Particle and Widespread Panic. They've also participated in numerous festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.
With Rock, Pop and Latin influences abounding, deSoL's music might be as difficult to categorize as is it easy to enjoy. Their first single, "Karma" released in 2005 became a Top 5 hit on the AAA radio format, proving the accessibility of the band's music. They take cues from such diverse influences as the Fania All Stars, Tito Puente, Buena Vista Social Club as well as Los Lobs, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Paul Simon and Santana, among others.
The cultural diversity of the group's membership is reflected the boundary-breaking sounds and themes heard in their music. Vocalist/guitarist Albie Monterrossa, the group's founder, is of Salvadorian parentage and grew up in Hollis, Queens where Run D.M.C., LL Cool Jay and other hip-hop pioneers were neighbors. Andy Letke, who handles keyboards was born and raised in the Midwest and is of Polish, German, English, Romanian and Hungarian heritage.
Percussionist/vocalist James Guerrero also grew up in Hollis and incorporates rhythms and vocal stylings that are fusions of his Mexican heritage with New York hip-hop and rock. Bassist Chris Guice is a New Jersey native whose family heritage is Spanish/Greek-English and German. Also hailing from the Garden State is drummer Ron Alessio, of Italian parentage, while percussionist Ray Turull grew up in Manhattan's Spanish Harlem and is of Puerto Rican heritage. Kevin Ansell, the band's lead guitarist, is originally from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and is Jewish.
Prior to taking time off the road to record On My Way, deSoL spent a month in the Middle East by arrangement with the Department of Defense's Armed Forces Entertainment program. They brought their music to immensely appreciative audiences of US service personnel in Bahrain, Qatar, Djibouti, and Kuwait. Following that outing, and at the end of 30 straight months of touring, they repaired to Lake House Music in Asbury Park where, with Jon Leidersdorff, they wrote and produced the new album. Albie Monterossa, commenting on the band and album, remarked, ""We've been together for more than six years now and the musical and spiritual bonds between the band members have grown stronger all that time. We think On My Way reflects the dedication of this sense of brotherhood and unity of purpose. And we think it rocks, too."
