Jaxtr Launches Voice Application on Facebook® Platform

Jaxtr announces a new click-to-call voice application built on the Facebook Platform.

Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2007 -- Jaxtr, a social communications company, today announced at Facebook’s f8 event a click-to-call voice application built on Facebook Platform, a platform that enables companies and developers to build applications for the Facebook website. The jaxtr service links Facebook users’ mobile and landline phones to their online profile to hear from callers worldwide while keeping their existing phone numbers private.

“Facebook Platform creates an ecosystem for developers to build applications that integrate deeply into Facebook and use its social graph,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook. “By enabling developers to make applications within Facebook, we’re working together to create a better utility for millions of people.”

Facebook users around the world now have a convenient and cost-effective way to call one another without ever compromising their privacy and while taking advantage of local rates, even when phoning international users.
Facebook is a social utility that offers an efficient way for people to stay connected with their friends and the people around them. Facebook users communicate and share information through the social graph, the network of connections and relationships between people. With more than 24 million active users, Facebook is the sixth-most trafficked website in the United States.

The jaxtr Service
With a free jaxtr account, Facebook users link their mobile or landline phones with their online network. By adding their jaxtr widget to their Facebook profile, users can hear from callers worldwide while keeping their existing phone numbers private.

Jaxtr’s PrivacyShield enables users to control on a caller-by-caller basis whether a person can reach the jaxtr user directly or is only allowed to leave a voice mail. Jaxtr users can even block specific callers from leaving voice messages. They can also decide whether their home, work or mobile phone should ring when an approved person calls them. Additionally, jaxtr users get access to visual voicemail to manage voice messages just as they do with Web-based email accounts.

Additional features for Facebook users include:

  • VoiceBlast™: Lets users record their own voice to greet and update people who visit their profile or blog
  • Voice and Text Messages: Allows callers to send voice or text messages in addition to making phone calls
  • Worldwide Support: Users can receive calls from people in over 220 countries
  • Local Numbers: Provides thousands of direct-dial numbers in the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Asia

“The jaxtr service is a compelling application for millions of Facebook users, enabling them for the first time to add voice to their social network,” stated Konstantin Guericke, jaxtr CEO. “Facebook users around the world now have a convenient and cost-effective way to call one another without ever compromising their privacy and while taking advantage of local rates, even when phoning international users.”

Facebook today launched Facebook Platform, a development platform that enables companies and engineers to integrate with Facebook and gain access to millions of users. More than 50 percent of Facebook users return to the site each day, providing unparalleled distribution potential for applications and the opportunity to build a business that is highly relevant to people’s lives.
