What is Eyelash Transplant Surgery?
Hair is harvested from the back of the scalp. From there, the individual hair follicles are prepared for transplantation into either the eyelashes or eyebrows. On average, 20-30 hair follicles are transplanted into each of the upper eyelashes. The procedure is done under a local anesthesia in the comfort of our office. Either procedure can be done by itself or in combination. The hair follicles will go through a natural cycle where 3-4 weeks after being transplanted they will fall out. After 6-8 weeks, those hair follicles will go through the growth phase and the eyelashes will reappear. It is important to note that the transplanted hair follicles will continue to grow as they would have done at the back of the scalp. Periodic eyelash trimming and/or curling will be required to maintain a natural look.
What is Eyebrow Transplant Surgery?
Many people request eyebrow transplants because they want to fill out patchy eyebrows. As with eyelash transplant surgery, local anesthesia is administered and a hair graft is then taken. On average 200-400 hair follicles are transplanted into each eyebrow. A skilled surgeon will pay close attention to the direction and angle at which the eyebrow hairs grow in order to successfully achieve natural-looking eyebrows.
