Beverly Hills Surgeon Hits Record Milestones

With Father's Day just around the corner, Dr. Phil Werthman notes improved techniques in helping men becomes fathers and impressive milestones for his Beverly Hills practice, The Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and Vasectomy Reversal. The Center has treated 25,000 men for infertility, performed over 3,000 microsurgical vasectomy reversals, and over 1,000 no-scalpel vasectomy procedures.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 7, 2007 -- With Father's Day just around the corner, Dr.

The Center for Male Reproductive Medicine boasts a vasectomy reversal success rate of 98% and is recognized as one of the best facilities in the world. Dr. Werthman, who was selected by Consumer's Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Physicians" and was the vasectomy reversal specialist on ABC's "Extreme Makeover" show, limits his practice to the treatment of male infertility and microsurgery of the scrotum and vas deferens (one of the few urologic surgeons in the United States who does not practice general urology). Because of Werthman's unique focus and understanding, he has refined his techniques and procedures, resulting in extremely low complication rates.

"Whether my patient has decided on a no-scalpel vasectomy or requests a vasectomy reversal, he receives the benefit of our years of expertise," says Werthman. "In addition to our reputation and track record, our most distinguishing characteristic is our personalized approach to care. Every patient has access to me twenty-four hours a day, via home and cell phone numbers."

Introduced in the United States in 1988, no-scalpel vasectomies have grown in popularity. They require only local anesthesia and can be performed in Dr. Werthman's outpatient surgical facility located in Beverly Hills. A new improvement known as the "no-needle, no-scalpel vasectomy" has just been introduced. Using this technique, men can avoid the needle used to inject the local anesthetic, making the procedure "pain-free." "This procedure is ideal for men who want to avoid a needle. It makes the no-scalpel vasectomy even easier and more appealing for patients" says Werthman, a pioneer in the technique.

The reverse vasectomy procedure can also be performed in the Center's state-of-the-art facility, and Dr. Werthman only performs one reversal per day. This allows the patient individual attention. While general anesthesia is used, the procedure is "day surgery," in which the patient arrives in the morning and leaves the Center about an hour after the procedure. In 2005, Dr. Werthman introduced a new anesthesia irrigation technique that allows the patient to wake up from surgery pain-free. "This is just another simple technique that we devised that makes recovery so much better for our patients."

Dr. Werthman treats a variety of patients including men who have been categorized as infertile and may have a low sperm count, those who choose to have vasectomies and other patients who want vasectomy reversals. Dr. Werthman has just written about a procedure that can actually decrease DNA damage to a man's sperm which has been accepted for publication in one of the major fertility journals.
