Mark Trundle of Kingfisher B&Q Announced as Executive Director of the Global Institute of Logistics Maritime Council

The Global Institute of Logistics is pleased to announce that Mark Trundle has been appointed an Executive Director of the Institute's Maritime Logistics Council.

(PRWEB) June 9, 2007 -- The Global Institute of Logistics is pleased to announce that Mark Trundle has been appointed an Executive Director of the Institute's Maritime Logistics Council.

The announcement was made at the institute's Annual European Industry Dinner held in the Swissotel in Dusseldorf, Germany on Monday May 21st. Mr. Trundle is Manager of International Logistics at the Kingfisher Group.

The Maritime Logistics Council was launched by the institute to develop joined-up thinking in maritime logistics and to promote a true collaborating culture among the different maritime logistics stakeholders. Through the council, the institute is partnering with Hamburg-based certification agency Germanischer Lloyd to develop a container terminal quality indicator benchmark.

Welcoming Mark onboard Kieran Ring, CEO of the Institute, said:
"Mark's appointment brings a distinctly European focus to the work of the Global Maritime Logistics Council. I, and indeed all the Executive Directors look forward to working with Mark in the development of the Council."

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Trundle said:
"I believe the council's aim, to foster a collaborative approach across all stakeholders, is a key enabler for the delivery of effective and sustainable solutions across the supply chain. I look forward to working with colleagues across the industry to develop this approach, while bringing a retailer perspective to each topic."

Mr. Trundle has worked in various retail supply chain roles for the last 17 years. The majority of the time has been spent within B&Q, based in the UK. Currently he manages international logistics for the Kingfisher Group (which includes B&Q), the third largest DIY retailer in the world. He gained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and trained as an accountant before moving to a career in logistics.

Kingfisher is Europe's leading home improvement retail group and the third largest in the world, with leading market positions in the UK, France, Poland, Italy, China and Taiwan. The group has over 700 stores and main brands are B&Q, Castorama, Brico-Depot and Screwfix Direct.

About the Global Institute of Logistics
The Global Institute of Logistics was founded in 2001 by the members of the Global Logistics Forum under the Chairmanship of the late Robert V. Delaney, the renowned U.S. logistics commentator and author. The institute actively fosters and promotes high levels of relationship orientation amongst the stakeholders in the global logistics community. The institute acts as a bridge between the academic world and the world of business, educating the global supply chain community on the latest in academic thinking, while at the same time balancing and correcting the various hypothesis emanating from the academic community with the real experience of early adopters.
