Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) June 11, 2007 -- The Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative (CPI) is pleased to announce the stage reading of the new full length play "Diamonds" written by Ed Trach. The performance is Tuesday, June 26th at 7:30 p.m., in the Fifth Third Bank Theater, Aronoff Center for the Arts, Seventh and Main Streets. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the door on the night of the performances or call 513-621-2787 for the Aronoff Center box office.

"Diamonds" is about the family of a master diamond cutter and his two sons. After the death of one son, the other returns home to investigate. He meets and falls for Holly, his brother's girl, who is only one who knows the truth about his brother's death. "Diamonds" examines the nature of love, loss, and the emotional complexities of forgiveness and understanding.

This one night only stage reading is part of the New Voices Series sponsored by CPI and the Cincinnati Arts Association. Plays originally presented in the New Voices Series have been produced in several cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative is a grassroots organization of playwrights, directors and actors devoted to bringing plays written by local playwrights to the Cincinnati stage in the form of staged readings. Stage readings are an important step in the development of new plays. The audience is encouraged but not required to join in the collaborative process of bringing a new play to life. Preliminary to full productions stage readings allow playwrights, actors and directors to receive feedback from the audience about the script and play-in-progress.

CPI is accepting new plays for consideration for the remainder of the 2007 Season. Area writers are encouraged to submit a full-length play or three one-acts, along with $15 check payable to CPI. Author's name and contact information should appear on a separate cover page but not on the manuscript. The fee includes a year's membership in CPI and membership privileges. If interested, mail a typed unbound copy of your script along with a $15 check to: CPI, Box 141164, Cincinnati, OH 45250-1164.
