Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) June 21, 2007 -- The more feathers Dan Rather ruffles the better for composer/playwright, Neal Fox, whose show, "Thank You, Dan Rather," will have its world premier on September 27, at Sixth Star Studios, in Ft. Lauderdale.
Fox was the co-writer of the theme for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather which played for thirteen years--until Rather and the network parted ways. Then CBS hired Katie Couric and gave her a whole new theme. That incident was unfortunate for Fox who will lose a lot of income as a result of the switch. But he turned it to his advantage by creating a one-man show, using his wry wit to share tales about his life in the music biz--a career spanning almost five decades and every medium from jingles, to TV themes, to film scores, and musicals.
Mounting the show at his own expense, Fox looks for any way he can to spread the word. So he couldn't believe his ears when he heard Rather say that CBS was "dumbing it down, tarting it up." The negative reaction was instantaneous. "I don't know what he was thinking," Fox grinned, "but, it makes my show topical. And if I get free publicity--hey, thanks, Dan!"
Fox just posted a new video on YouTube that's a teaser for the show, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8aWVyW5_K4 ). It's a tongue in cheek look at the rise and fall of a successful composer, and a really good laugh. It's also a great introduction to an artist who keeps growing and going, no matter what gets thrown at him, and never takes himself seriously.
Now Fox is putting the finishing touches on the "Dan Rather" web site, which he also designed. He's a busy man. But if Rather keeps on ranting, ticket sales should be good!
Show times to be announced soon. Information about the show and ticket sales can be found at http://www.thankyoudanrather.com. To learn more about Neal Fox's music and other projects, please visit his main site, Wire Duck Records, http://www.wireduck.com.
