Colorado Attorney's to Offer Free Legal Services?
Denver Attorney Richard Harris of The Harris Law Firm drives initiative in Colorado to offer pro bono legal services.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 1, 2007 -- Colorado family law attorney Rich Harris is currently serving with Supreme Court Justice Gregory Hobbs on the task force to make available pro bono legal services, via Rule 223, Pro Bono/Emeritus Attorney. If the initiative is approved, retired and inactive Colorado attorneys will provide pro bono legal services under the auspices of a Colorado nonprofit entity whose purpose is or includes the provision of pro bono legal representation to indigent or near-indigent persons, and act as legal counsel on behalf of a person seeking representation through such entity. To provide such services, the pro bono attorney must be admitted to practice law in Colorado, but have an inactive status. Additionally, the attorney must be in good standing, have no pending disciplinary proceeding, and not receive compensation of any kind for the legal services rendered. If adopted by the Court, the Rule 223 would become effective July 1, 2007.
"The availability of pro bono legal services is an overlooked necessity to Colorado's indigent" said Richard Harris, President of The Harris Law Firm. "I believe Rule 223 is the means to helping Colorado residents, and I am glad to be behind such a worthy cause."
