News Site GroundReport Honored for Social Entrepreneurship

Citizen journalism website GroundReport.com has been chosen to participate in the invitation-only 2007 Waldzell Meeting conference on global change. GroundReport, which enables anyone to publish news stories and report live on events through its video channel, will be recognized as a leader in social entrepreneurship.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 10, 2007 -- Leading citizen journalism platform GroundReport has been chosen to participate in the 2007 Waldzell Meeting, an invitation-only conference on inspiring global change. GroundReport will attend as an "Architect of the Future," in a program developed to recognize young leaders in social entrepreneurship. The theme of the 2007 Waldzell Meeting, held outside Vienna in the historic Benedictine Abbey of Melk, is "What is our legacy?"

GroundReport strives to democratize the news media by removing barriers to participation. Through GroundReport's online platform and live streaming news channel, contributors are able to instantly publish news reports, connect with a global audience and earn a share of website revenues. The "Architects of the Future" program honors initiatives that "contribute to making the world a better place."

Founding Chief Executive Officer Rachel Sterne will attend the "Architects of the Future" retreat and present GroundReport at the Waldzell Meeting that follows.

Confirmed speakers at the 2007 Waldzell Meeting include His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, architect Frank Gehry and author Paul Coelho. The Austrian-based Waldzell Institute brings together "people who have made remarkable contributions to the fields of science, art, politics, the economy and spirituality, with the great decision makers of the day and to come." The Waldzell Institute was founded by Gundula Schatz and Andreas Salcher in 2003 and is located in Vienna. For more information see: http:///www.waldzell.org.

GroundReport's previous recognition includes second prize in the Open Source Meets Business Conference's startup competition, membership in the Linux Business Campus at Nuremberg and endorsement by One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) as a recommended publishing resource. The company was founded in June 2006 in New York City. For more information see: http://groundreport.com.
