A Master on a Master: Allan Houser Releases Limited Edition Prints of a Unique Photo Session

The Allan Houser organization has announced that is hosting an exhibit of noted photographer Lee Marmon's photo session with Allan Houser from early 1991.

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) July 13, 2007 -- The Allan Houser organization has announced that is hosting an exhibit of noted photographer Lee Marmon's photo session with Allan Houser from early 1991. Marmon, one of America's best known and acclaimed Native American photographers spent a day with Houser following the sculpture and painting master's process. The result is a unique portrait of a one of the world's best known artists at ease with his work and with the photographer

Individual photographs have been used previously by the Allan Houser organization in books and exhibits with copyrights purchased from Lee Marmon.

Twelve of the photographs are being released for sale in a limited edition of one hundred and will be the feature of an exhibit, which will open Monday, July 16th, at the Allan Houser Gallery in Downtown Santa Fe. A public reception of these never before publicly offered, limited edition, photographic prints will be held on July 16th beginning at 4:30pm until 7:00pm. From then the photographs will also be available for purchase at the Santa Fe Gallery location and at the other museums and galleries around the world that feature Houser's work.

These extraordinary photographs were originally commissioned by Sandra D'Emilio, Curator of the Museum of Fine Art, New Mexico, for the catalogue which accompanied a retrospective show of Allan Houser's work in 1991. Lee Marmon's respect and admiration for Allan Houser is beautifully captured in the natural and relaxed quality rendered in these photographs. The capture of ordinary moments of an artist at work, in turn become extraordinary works of art, not only by photographer, but by the subject and mediums they both passionately enjoy.

The introductory event to launch this limited edition is being held in conjunction with PhotoArts Santa Fe, a ten-day Biennial Festival which includes city-wide photography exhibitions and special events in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. The festival creates opportunities for photographers, galleries, educational institutions and non-profit organizations to promote, exhibit, and sell photographs.
