Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 14, 2007 -- The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile announces its four newest additions to the executive team. The newest executive appointments at the Chicago Magnificent Mile hotel are:
- Scot Cotton, Resident Manager
- Robert Hawkins, Multi Unit Director of Human Resources
- Jay Spurr, Director of Sales and Marketing
- Chris Bunton, Director of Event Management

Scot Cotton, Resident Manager
Cotton began his career with Marriott in 1985 as an intern in the sales department at the Atlanta Marquis Marriott and has held positions as a convention manager, followed by various sales/marketing management positions. His extensive resume with Marriott brings immeasurable value to the Chicago, IL hotel organization and strong leadership and commitment.
During his career, Cotton has been the recipient of numerous Manager of the Year Awards, Sales Leader of the Year for the Midwest Region, Sales Leadership Award for the Western Region, Sales Leader of the Year for the Central Region, and Sales Leader of the Year for Marriott International.
Robert Hawkins, Multi Unit Director of Human Resources
Hawkins joined and began his management career with Marriott in 1985 and quickly moved up the ranks. He has held positions as Assistant Room Service Manager, Restaurant Manager, and Purchasing Manager, and Director of Restaurants. In 1995 he partnered with the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter/San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk as a Restaurant Manager, Director of Purchasing, and Human Resources Manager and in 2000 became the Director of Human Resources, SPHR, Lead DHR/Western Region at the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown, followed by Director of Human Resources - Task Force Assignment, Human Resources Project Lead in 2005 at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott and most recently as Director of Human Resources Operations, SPHR, Associate Relations/Office Manager for Marriott, Courtyard and Residence Inn.
In addition to Hawkins' vast career experience he has served on various committees and has received awards and recognition for Manager of the Quarter, Awards of Excellence, Unsung Hero Award, Support Manager of the Year, Leader of the Quarter, Leader of the Year, and Associate Advocate Award.
Jay Spurr, Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM)
Spurr began his career with Marriott in 1987 as a Bellman at the Columbia Marriott where he held various positions through 1994 as Front Desk Supervisor, Housekeeping Manager, and Executive Meeting Manger. He has also held positions as Executive Meeting Manager, Sales Manager, Senior Sales Manager, and Senior Account Executive and most recently Director of Sales at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.
Spurr has attained many accomplishments prior to his DOSM position at the downtown Chicago hotel and has been the recipient of various prestigious achievements throughout his Marriott career including multiple sales awards.
Chris Bunton, CMP, Director of Event Management
Bunton started his career with Marriott in Tan-Tar-A in 1997; his next stop was the Schaumburg Marriott where he held positions in both restaurant and banquet management. Bunton has moved up the ranks at the Chicago hotel from Banquet Manager to Director of Event Operations to Director of Event Planning.
