The Riverside Group Adds New Case Binding Equipment
Leading Northeast trade bindery installs Astronic 220C Sewer, GP2 SC-2 Automatic Case Maker to bolster short- and medium-run hardcover case binding capabilities.
Rochester, NY (PRWEB) July 21, 2007 -- The Riverside Group, a full-service binding and finishing services provider, has recently installed an Astronic 220C sewing machine and a GP2 SC-2 semi-automatic case making machine. These two pieces of equipment will significantly bolster the company's short and medium run length hardcover case binding capabilities.
The Astronic 220C sewing machine can sew folded signatures at a rate of 220 cycles per minute - fast enough for medium- and long-run book production. An automatic misfeed detection system maximizes quality control by detecting and ejecting incorrect signatures. A touch-screen console allows for very short setup times, making the Astronic machine versatile enough for short-run applications.
To complement the Astronic sewer, The Riverside Group also has installed a GP2 SC-2 automatic case making machine. The SC-2 operates at up to 300 cycles per hour, and offers "zero" makeready times for fast job changeover. The SC-2 can produce case sizes up to 26" wide for thick and oblong book applications.
"The Astronic sewer and SC-2 casemaker are among the most versatile machines of their kind on the market," says Fred Daubert, President of The Riverside Group. "With their automated features and fast
production speeds, this equipment will improve our service for short- and medium-run case binding applications. We will also put their quick makeready times to work handling the growth in on-demand binding services."
