Maruba Lines Expanding Services Between the US East Coast and Latin America

Maruba Lines, a privately held niche carrier established in 1962, has recently expanded its services to and from the East Coast with several service strings now available to shipping interests. Maruba has operated for many years from Asia to the US, Central and South America West Coast under the brand known as CLAN.

Miami, Florida (PRWEB) July 25, 2007 -- Maruba Lines, www.maruba.com.ar, a privately held niche carrier established in 1962, has recently expanded its services to and from the East Coast with several service strings now available to shipping interests. Maruba has operated for many years from Asia to the US, Central and South America West Coast under the brand known as CLAN.

The new services include:

MAYA EXRESS - Direct service from Miami to Santo Tomas de Castilla, Puerto Cortes, and Belize City on a weekly cycle departing on Thursdays. The Line offers 45ft and Refrigerated containers on this service.

BRASEX - Direct Service from Miami to Kingston, continuing to Sao Francisco, Paranagua, Santos, Rio De Janeiro on a weekly fixed day cycle departing on Friday. Service is provided also to Suape and Fortaleza on alternate voyages.

USATLAN - Direct weekly service from Port Elizabeth, Baltimore, Norfolk and Charleston to Paranagua, Sao Francisco, Santos and Rio de Janeiro. This string is the only service from the USEC making direct calls at Parangua and Rio which services an extensive hinterland in the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Parana in Brazil.

Both of these services to the East Coast of South America offer connections via Rio de Janeiro to and from Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and ports in Patagonia including Puerto Madryn, Puerto Deseado and Ushuaia. The Brasex and Usatlan services also provides a competitive service to Durban, South Africa, also via Rio de Janeiro.

ECS - Direct Service from North Europe to Kingston, the North Coast of South America and Central America which offers cross trading opportunities for traders and brokers.

All of these services are of course offering northbound services from the booming Latin America market.

Maruba has recently opened an Americas regional office in Miami where operational aspects of these services will be managed through the carrier's owner's representatives.

Effective August 1, 2007, Maruba has appointed Alpha Shipping Agencies LLC as its General Agent for the US East Coast who are responsible for sales, traffic and customer experience. Sub-agents have been appointed for the Northeast; Garnett Shipping Group and for the Southeast; Northstar Liner Agencies.

As a niche carrier entering these very competitive trades, the company intends to make its mark by offering "common sense" shipping. The company recognizes that the shipping industry's on -- going mergers and acquisitions have resulted in less attention being paid to the customer. Maruba's succcess will depend on providing customers with a level of service that traditionally was common practice not many years ago. This includes prompt turn around of rate quotes, cargo tracking and documentation. The company prides itself on its ability to maintain repeat customers by providing these core services.

Both Maruba as a vessel operator and Alpha Shipping as agents recognize that while ships transport cargo, its people are responsible for a successful shipping outcome and customer experience. A very capable and experienced staff will ensure that new customers will have a favorable experience and spread the word as Maruba's services continue to expand.
