(PRWEB) July 29, 2007 -- Spa Pima, the student-run day spa at Pima Medical Institute, 957 S. Dobson Road in Mesa, will be hosting an open house Tuesday July 31 from 10 a.m. to noon. Potential students and others interested in the facility can tour the facility, learn about the program and even enjoy a free, mini massage. Light refreshments will also be served.
"When Spa Pima was designed we worked with the Arizona Spa Director's Association to find out what skills they were looking for in employees, as well as what features we should offer," said Christopher Luebke, campus director of the Mesa campus. "This open house is an excellent opportunity for potential students, as well as the general public, to find out about our facilities, as well as the terrific hands-on training we offer at our Massage Therapy program."
The resort-style, state-of-the-art facility offers: Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Chair Massage, Reflexology, Spa Stone, Moor Mud Cocoon, Herbal Wrap, Ultimate Foot Soak and Paraffin Wax.
The facility's plush features include: nine private rooms; ceramic tile flooring and counter tops; adjustable, subdued lighting; relaxing music; elegant and comfortable, resort-style furnishings; a leather recliner for reflexology; a back bar where students mix herbs, aromatherapy and other massage products and two large restrooms with upgraded fixtures and accessories.
In addition to performing massage and spa therapies, the students operate the clinic and learn all aspects of the day spa industry including how to manage a clinic or spa from the front office, ordering supplies, as well as retail product sales. Even taking inventory is multi-focused. Students are responsible for laundering their own towels, but order sheets from an outside vendor so they will learn how to manage inside and outside inventory.
Classes for the Massage Therapy program run every six weeks. The 720-hour curriculum is completed in 36 weeks for students taking day classes and 41 weeks for those enrolled in the evening program.
