San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) August 16, 2007 -- Many of Helen Darling's accomplishments have come in the form of dishing out career-high assists or scoring the winning basket at the buzzer. But in August, Darling, a point guard with the WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars (www.wnba.com/silverstars), will unveil a project she's been working on for some time now--a new children's book.

Darling will officially become an author during a book signing at The Fan Shop store Aug. 17, (immediately following the Silver Stars/Indiana Fever game at the AT&T Center) when her children's book, "Hide N Seek Monday," will be released to the public.

"Hide N Seek Monday," is both the concept and the title of a new book series that tells the story of triplets--JaJuan, Jalen and Nevaeh--who wake up early one Monday morning and decide to surprise their mother by hiding from her. The triplets find creative places to hide and when mother enters to wake them for school, and she does not see her children, the game begins. Checking bed covers, under the bed, even the toy chest, mother eventually finds all three children. During the process of seeking, mother and children create their own playtime magic full of energetic chants, songs and fun.

"I am a mother of triplets with a degree in education, so education is big in my home," Darling says. "We do activities everyday, all of which are somehow a learning tool. I've been to several book stores but I haven't found many books about the days of the week. My work is different because it's about my triplet's adventures, helping children associate an activity with a day of the week."

Children will fall in love with the creative triplets and not realize the subtle learning that is hidden within the words. While reading "Hide N Seek Monday," children will build their vocabulary as objects in a bedroom are itemized. They will also receive a refresher on counting and exposure to rhyme and rhythm through the chorus of words. Finally, the appendix offers parents and children fun activities to enjoy. Parents and teachers will enjoy fun-filled stories based on Darling's five-year-old triplets. Each day the triplets complete an activity which helps them learn the days of the week. "Hide N Seek Monday," also includes extensions at the end for parents and teachers.

"Hide N Seek Monday" (ISBN-13 978-0-9797674-0-1), ISBN-10 0-9797674-0-7) is 32 pages and sells for $10. The book is available for purchase online at Borders.com and Amazon.com, and is also available for purchase on the publisher's Web site at www.helendarling.com
