FileCatalyst Boosts File Transfers over Broadcast Microwave Services' TCII Media Router for ENG Vans

Unlimi-Tech Software today announced that FileCatalyst, its industry leading accelerated file transfer suite, is now being used by Broadcast Microwave Services Inc. (BMS) to increase file transfer speed across its TCII Media Router, which is embedded in ENG vans around the world.

Amsterdam, Holland and Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) August 29, 2007 -- Unlimi-Tech Software today announced that FileCatalyst, its industry leading accelerated file transfer suite, is now being used by Broadcast Microwave Services Inc. (BMS) to increase file transfer speed across its TCII Media Router, which is embedded in ENG vans around the world.

The BMS TCII Media Router, when paired with the BMS Truck-Coder II, provides high speed IP communications over a uni-directional microwave radio link. A 3G broadband wireless modem is used as the return channel while also providing a low speed constant network connection, regardless of the availability of the microwave link. The Media Router allows for file transfers using traditional methods such as FTP. However, with FTP, high round trip times, and packet loss due to interference can cause transfer to run slowly, and fail frequently.

This allows us to provide reliable file transfers at real time rates that are 20x that of the 3G broadband wireless connection alone
Featuring patent-pending acceleration technology with less than 1% overhead, on-the-fly compression and byte-level incremental transfers, FileCatalyst is able to overcome the bottlenecks imposed on traditional file transfer methods. It is able to achieve the optimal data transfer rate regardless of network impairments.

"FileCatalyst is designed to be integrated with any file based workflow with minimal effort," said Chris Bailey, CEO Unlimi-Tech Software, "BMS was able to take our solution, and plug it into their workflow within a couple of days. The results were immediate."

"FileCatalyst gives us 4 - 5 times higher throughput than traditional FTP when using the Microwave link," explained Dr. Jonathan Bramwell, an Engineering Manager at BMS, "This allows us to provide reliable file transfers at real time rates that are 20x that of the 3G broadband wireless connection alone"

FileCatalyst will also be at IBC 2007. Please stop by for a demonstration at booth 1.500.
