Wireless TV & Studios Inc. at Impasse with Digital-Dispatch Systems (DDS) Over Intended Technology for NYC Yellow Cab Project
Wireless TV and Studios, Inc., content and technology partner of Digital Dispatch Systems (DD), from Vancouver, Canada, has decided to put their partnership with DDS on hold.
(PRWEB) August 29, 2007 -- Due to a stalemate over technological issues, Wireless TV has decided to step back from their partnership with Digital Dispatch Systems.
Along with supplying exclusive content, Wireless TV & Studios Inc.(WTV) successfully provided Digital-Dispatch with their User Interface, design, marketing and video support for the 50 cab-test recently held in NYC. WTV's efforts were integral in enabling DDS to obtain a coveted Notice to Proceed (NTP) from New York's TLC. However, due to DDS's refusal to improve their technology or update content in a timely manner, Wireless TV has stopped working with DDS.
"We believed they were the right partner, a vertically integrated, experienced company with a clear understanding of the potential at hand, but unfortunately DDS has proven otherwise," said WTV President, Eduardo Lipschutz-Villa.
Putting it in perspective, WTV's president added, "Unfortunately the RFP was conceived in 2004, and full implementation is happening nearly 4 years later. I do not need to remind you how fast technology evolves."
"This stalemate is rooted in a difference of opinion between what is minimally required to be done, versus what potential this technology holds."
This visionary project, brainchild of the TLC, intended to place New York City at the forefront, has been plagued by delays, misunderstandings, and political pressures. Even though step by step all these issues are being resolved, we are confronted at the end with a disappointing technological compromise. It is WTV's position that the TLC did all it could to maintain the integrity of the project. As Lipshutz-Villa notes, "Four years ago, transmitting at 200k an hour sufficed for text dispatching. Today it is obsolete technology."
Along with its video know-how, WTV provided news and entertainment including numerous celebrity interviews, City Highlights, movie reviews and more. "We hope DDS will 'step into the present' by revitalizing its technology, and realize the amazing opportunity they have at hand," Lipshutz-Villa says, adding, "Wireless TV is still fully committed to the technology, has developed its own hardware and is in the process of establishing turn-key services in other markets."
