Dean Hoff will oversee all WCU's nursing programs at the Orange County campus: the LVN to RN Bridge Program, the RN to BSN Bridge Program and the new RN to BSN Online Program which will be accepting applications November 1 for a February 2008 launch.

Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) August 29, 2007 -- West Coast University (WCU) welcomed Nancy Hoff, MSN, RN August 20, 2007 as the first Dean of Nursing at the University's new Orange County campus located in Anaheim.

Wayne Fletcher, vice president of West Coast University commented on Hoff's appointment: "We are ecstatic that Nancy is joining the West Coast University team. Her rich and diverse nursing background as a practitioner, educator and administrator will have an immediate and positive impact on our students."

Ms. Hoff brings to West Coast University more than 35 years of nursing management, teaching and clinical skills to her new position. Since earning her Master of Science Degree in Nursing (Education) from California State University, Fresno in 1978, Ms. Hoff has been a Faculty Member at Fresno City College Registered Nursing Program. At Fresno City College, she taught Medical-Surgical Nursing, Leadership and Management, Transcultural Health Care and the LVN to RN transition course.

After serving as Department Chair/Assistant Director of Nursing from 1992 to 1994 and 1998-2000 at Fresno City College, beginning in 2006, Ms. Hoff was released from her teaching assignments at the College in order to again assume chairperson responsibilities as Department Chair/Assistant Director of Nursing.

In support of the Dean of Health Sciences at Fresno City College, who was the interim Director of Nursing, Ms. Hoff served as the de facto Director of Nursing taking on numerous leadership responsibilities, which included attending the Director of Nursing meetings in lieu of the Dean, budget management, faculty screening, support of faculty in program implementation and providing leadership for the development and continuing review and evaluation of curriculum and programs.

From 1995-1997, Ms. Hoff served as Associate Coordinator of the statewide RN to BSN program at California State University for the Fresno, Madera and Merced areas. She was responsible for recruiting students for the program, advising and planning individual student's program plan and presenting orientation workshops for potential students.

While busy in academia, Ms. Hoff found time to own three residential care facilities for the elderly. From 1994 to 2005, she was a Licensee/Administrator of Nan's TLC Homes where she managed 15 employees, prepared budget and payroll and was responsible for the care and supervision of 18 residents.

Ms. Hoff began her clinical nursing career as a Staff Nurse for a year in the Neuro-Psychiatry Unit at the University of Santo Tomas in her native Philippines, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Subsequently, she spent the next 11 years at Fresno Community Hospital moving from staff nurse and charge nurse to a Clinical Supervisor/Instructor in Surgery.

In addition to the wealth of experience that she brings to her new position, Hoff commented that she has always liked starting new and challenging projects. She believes her secret to success has been her relentless persistence to achieve the goals she strongly believes in, as well as her commitment to trying diverse strategies by thinking "outside the box."

During the interview process at WCU, Ms. Hoff "liked the school's mission, the people, the wonderful environment and the school's willingness to try different things." She liked it so much that she accepted the position of Dean of Nursing at the new Orange County campus just one month after retiring from Fresno City College.

Dean Hoff will oversee all WCU's nursing programs at the Orange County campus: the LVN to RN Bridge Program, the RN to BSN Bridge Program and the new RN to BSN Online Program which will be accepting applications November 1 for a February 2008 launch.
