'Disqualify Dennis Kucinich From Congress for Giving Aid/Comfort to Enemy,' Says Daniel Gilbert in Latest Op-Ed

Daniel Gilbert invokes 14th Amendment, calling on Congress to hold Kucinich Accountable for “Snuggling up to Syria”

Asheville, NC (Vocus/PRWEB ) September 13, 2007 -- Today, Republican candidate for president, Daniel Gilbert, called on the U.S. Congress to disqualify congressman Dennis Kucinich (D, OH), from serving in Congress, for giving aid and comfort to the enemy when he recently appeared on Syrian television. In an op-ed posted on www.wethepeopleforpresident.com, Gilbert said, "Kucinich consistently referred to the Iraq War as an 'occupation' that was 'dishonest' and responsible for the deaths of millions of Iraqis. He went so far as to call the War in Iraq a failure based on a lie."

In his Op-Ed invoking the 14th Amendment, candidate Gilbert reminds Americans and the Congress of Kucinich's remarks, lambasting the Bush Administration while praising the actions of Syrian President Assad. This at a time when Syria has become what Sen. Joseph Lieberman dubbed the "travel agent for al-Qaeda in Iraq." According to Lieberman, "the transit of al-Qaeda suicide bombers through Syria on the way to Iraq is completely unacceptable and must stop."

According to Gilbert, "Rep. Kucinich’s actions not only gave aid and comfort to terrorists in Iraq bent on killing our troops, but his statements, broadcast as propaganda throughout the Arab world, emboldened our enemies across the globe. Kucinich and his Democratic comrades have increasingly succeeded in projecting the image that the United States is weak and unable to stomach the fight against Islamo-fascism. What better pep talk for our enemies."
