Skokie, IL (PRWEB) September 27, 2007 -- Upstairs Solutions LTC announces the expansion of its online learning materials specifically developed for senior care staff in Assisted Living (AL) communities. The Upstairs Solutions library is the most robust in the industry and features unique content, language, examples, and visuals specific to the Assisted Living sector.

Assisted Living facilities train staff not only to provide best practices in care, but also to assist with regulatory compliance management. According to Maria Schmidt, RN, BSN, Director of Clinical Education at Upstairs Solutions, it's difficult for Assisted Living residences to train and remain up-to-date in the regulations because they're constantly changing and are governed differently in each state. In the past, AL communities only had access to training that was developed for Nursing Homes, or at best, modified from Nursing Home content. With the Upstairs Solutions AL Library, Assisted Living facilities can access online information that is specifically developed for their needs.

The Upstairs Solutions AL Library has over twenty topics available for online learning including resident rights, neglect and exploitation, safety and fire, infection control and other subjects.

Upstairs Solution's Maria Schmidt formerly owned an AL facility and has over 25 years of experience in long term care with a focus in quality assurance and training. She was part of a team of 22 subject matter experts who developed the AL Library. Schmidt explains that "other training companies typically have a staff nurse writing all the topics. At Upstairs Solutions, we use subject matter experts combined with instructional designers to develop AL-specific content that makes learning easy."

Upstairs Solutions helps AL residences optimize their training by incorporating eLearning, allowing facilities to train anyone, anytime, from anywhere that they have computer access. The Upstairs Solutions Learning Management System documents compliance requirements and helps residences select the appropriate Upstairs Solutions learning modules and/or seek blended approaches with supplemental learning sources.

Tamar Abell, MA, CCC-SLP, LNHA, Principal of Upstairs Solutions adds, "The Assisted Living Library joins the Upstairs Solution portfolio of over 70 Nursing Home learning modules. We developed this AL Library because we're committed to excellence in serving both Assisted Living communities and Nursing Homes, and to improving the quality of life and care of their residents."
