Two New Books for Adults and Children Based on Clinically-Proven 'THE Burris Life Coach' Process for Depression

The only clinically-proven process for depression is now available in two new books by the recognized life coach standard and author Kelly Burris. As the founder and CEO of THE Burris Life Coach, Burris' latest books assist readers in taking control of their subconscious to combat depression.

(PRWEB) January 8, 2008 -- The latest books by celebrated life coach Kelly Burris, 'THE Burris Life Coach for Adults' and 'THE Burris Life Coach Ages 7-17,' are two powerful, fully interactive books based on the only clinically-proven process for depression. Both books are available at www.amazon.com and electronic versions are available at www.KellyBurris.com.

The books are based on THE Burris Life Coach method, an innovative process for treating the causes of depression by influencing the subconscious to conform to one's conscious goals. Established as the definitive standard for all life coach certifications, THE Burris Life Coach method has had tremendous success in addressing human behavior from its very core of origin.

Contained within a three-ring binder, 'THE Burris Life Coach for Adults' and 'THE Burris Life Coach Ages 7-17' each include two CDs with tab separation for each of the seven steps, and an eighth tab designed for maintenance.

While clinical studies have not yet been implemented for children age 7 to 17, parts of Burris' adult version have been used with tremendous success since 1992. Burris created 'THE Burris Life Coach 7-17' because, just like adults, youth do not have supreme control of their emotional states without knowing how an emotional state comes about. Especially important is recognizing that intellectual development during this age range happens via emotional development.

A key reason Burris says he developed literature for children 7 to 17 is to process the ramifications of abuse. "You will never be able to keep adults from abusing children," he says, "but you can empower the child to take control of how they perceive all experiences so it does not have a negative influence on the rest of their life."

Especially worrying to Burris is the rush to medicate individuals with symptoms of depression without exploring alternative treatments. "In May 2007, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended a new warning label for all antidepressant medications," he explains. "The current 'black box' label includes a warning about the increased risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children and adolescents. The FDA wants to expand this warning to include young adults from ages 18 to 24. Does medication make any sense with this type of warning, especially when there is a clinically proven process for depression that gets to the very root of the problem?"

There is complacency if not outright resistance within the community of psychology toward this clinically proven process, he says. "The medical and mental health communities have all but ignored this process and continue with dispersing medication with a seemingly high tolerance if not an acceptance toward people who commit suicide while depressed or while on depression medication."

Burris advises that in regard to one's mental health, it is imperative to choose a physician, psychologist, or psychiatrist who is best qualified "If a physician, psychologist, or psychiatrist cannot answer the question of what brings about an emotional state and/or behavior, then they are guessing," he says. "This is why medication for depression is so widely prescribed. The reality is there is not a physician, psychologist or psychiatrist who can answer this question because none of these groups even asks the question. You simply cannot fix it if you do not know how it works, and you do not know how it works if you cannot answer the question."

Although he doesn't focus solely on any demographic, cases involving those in the military are especially important to Burris. As reported by NBC , an average of eighteen military personnel commit suicide daily, and 20 percent of active duty soldiers report serious mental health problems, including depression and post traumatic stress. Burris hopes that the publication of his newest books will allow anyone with a friend, relative or child in the military suffering from clinical depression, to now take action on their own.
