Perfect for toasting your love, the distinctive Glass Drinking Boot is a great addition to anyone's collection.

Chicago (PRWEB) January 1, 2008 -- Beerables.net, "The Accessory Store for the Beer Enthusiast," proudly presents its selection of Glass Drinking Boots imported from Germany just in time for Valentine's Day gift-giving.

The German custom of drinking from glass boots, Bierstiefel, dates back over 100 years. The German history books credit a Persian General who made an oath to his troops to drink beer from his boot should they achieve success in storming a town. When the battle was won, the General had a local glassmaker create a boot from glass so as he would not "have to taste his own feet." Since then, the custom of military soldiers celebrating victories by passing the boot is still celebrated today in many bier gardens in Bavaria and throughout Germany.

Today, the custom has been adapted all over the world to celebrate any occasion as the boot is carefully passed around the table with each person taking a drink. The trick is to keep the toe of the boot either to the side or down to avoid the build-up of air which will cause a spray of beer in the drinker's face who forgets.

"The tradition of 'passing the boot' is a wonderful way to celebrate any occasion with friends," said Glenn and Jennifer Faulk, founders of the online retailer. "The German breweries have not only created distinctive glass boots for each of their breweries, but these boots are wonderful collector pieces to treasure forever!"

The 2 Liter Glass Drinking Boots are available from Spaten Brewery, Hofbrau Brewery and Weihenstephan Brewery for $65.00 each plus shipping at www.beerables.net, which also offers the famous Global Glassware Collection and other glassware, signage, clothing, bar accessories and limited edition items from breweries around the globe.
