The Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania community public radio station WDIY 88.1 FM and host Eleanor Bobrow spotlighted author and educator Dr. Ruthann Russo on "Take Charge of Your Life". The program aired on December 26th 2007. Dr. Russo's new book, 7 Steps to Your Best Possible Healthcare, a consumer guide to navigating the healthcare system, describes how a well-educated consumer can get the best possible healthcare.
The first half of the interview focused on Dr. Russo's own healthcare journey with her daughter, Emmalea who was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 19. This discussion included obtaining five second opinions and eventually finding a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatment for Emmalea's seizures. Later in the show, Dr. Russo and Ms. Bobrow discussed what the healthcare consumer can do to get optimal healthcare. This included a discussion about the importance of a primary care physician and how to find one that is best for you.
