An-Najm Publishers, a non-profit traditional publisher based in Sydenham, London, has published their debut anthology that reveals to all Muslims the secret to success in their acts of worship.
Officially launched at the Global Peace & Unity Event 2007 in Excel, London, An-Najm Publishers' anthology, Between Love, Hope & Fear, is set to shake up a storm. It not only highlights the permissibility and importance of poetry and Islamic fiction, but also demonstrates how works from both genres can aid towards spiritual growth. Despite these ambitious aims, the profits from the book are to be donated to Lewisham Islamic Centre as part of An-Najm Publishers' charitable intentions.
"We never imagined An-Najm to grow as it has," An-Najm Publishers' Managing Director, Rahma Sanni -- otherwise known as Umm Junayd (mother of Junayd) -- explains. "But we are glad that it has, and now we can look forward to publishing many more motivating books of fiction and poetry, by God's Will."
Between Love, Hope & Fear exhibits a vast spectrum of talent from writers based around the world including UK, USA and Saudi Arabia. It has sold almost 200 copies since its launch in November 2007 and is set to sell many more, God-Willing.
"The distance between our writers has not been an obstacle in achieving our goal of publishing a high-quality book. Our love of writing combined with our unified love of Allah is what created our bond, and the result is an awe-inspiring anthology that many Muslims can enjoy," says Mrs Sanni. "The feedback we have received thus far has been extremely encouraging, but 'Between Love, Hope & Fear' is just the tip of the iceberg in our struggle to fight the many misconceptions about poetry and Islamic fiction. We have many exciting plans ahead."
Between Love, Hope & Fear is an anthology based on a quote by Ibn al-Qayyim, an Islamic scholar: "The heart is like a bird: love at its head and its two wings are hope and fear." The book is overflowing with poignant pieces of poetry, short stories and essays that aim to bring readers closer to achieving true love of Allah, fear of His Punishment and hope in His Mercy. Between Love, Hope & Fear is available for purchase from Darussalam (Walthamstow, London) and Zam Zam bookshop (Green Street, Upton Park, London), or directly from the publishers via their website (http://www.an-najmpublishers.co.uk).
