U.S. Preventive Medicine Names Frederic Goldstein President, COO

As part of U.S. Preventive Medicine’s (USPM) evolution from a development stage company into an integrated, preventive health services enterprise, Frederic Goldstein has been named President, Director and Chief Operating Officer. Goldstein is currently President and CEO of USPM’s wholly-owned disease management subsidiary, U.S. Care Management, Inc. Christopher Fey remains Chairman and CEO of U.S. Preventive Medicine. Brian Baum, who served previously as President, Director and COO has taken the lead role in channel and business development as Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer.

During the past 12 months, U.S. Preventive Medicine has evolved from a development stage company into an integrated, preventive health care company providing comprehensive health management services in seven states for individuals with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, high risk OB/GYN, mental illness and many other complex conditions. The company is also launching The Prevention Plan™, as well as expanding its system of Centers for Preventive Medicine.

Fred Goldstein served previously as Executive Vice President of U.S. Preventive Medicine and President of the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary U.S. Care Management, Inc. He has served in these positions since September 2007 when the company acquired Specialty Disease Management Services, Inc. (“SDM”).

Prior to this date, Goldstein served as founder and President of SDM since the company was founded in 1997. Prior to 1997, Goldstein served as Vice President and General Manager of HealthCare USA, a licensed health insurer headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., where he led the team that grew the company to 29,000 members and approximately $35 million in annual revenue in 24 months, as well as managing many of the back office operations that supported 85,000 members and $100 million revenue run rate during the company’s first year of operations in Missouri. HealthCare USA received the highest quality rating of 22 Medicaid HMOs audited by Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration, received a commercial HMO license, achieved NCQA accreditation, and was awarded a prestigious Medicare Choices demonstration project. Goldstein also worked as a hospital administrator for several national hospital companies.

Goldstein received a Master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in 1984 and a Bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981.
