MLive.com is Michigan's most popular local news and information website, having eclipsed the one million visitor milestone in October*.

According to Mark Hauptschein, CEO of MLive.com, "The key to our growth is offering a powerful combination of real-time news, multimedia coverage and extensive opportunities for audience participation. Robust classifieds and shopping sections add to the appeal of the site."

A Broad Range of Information
People count on MLive.com to provide the latest on what's happening in their community: News, business, sports, entertainment, weather, travel, and more. MLive.com Classifieds are loaded with current listings for autos, jobs, real estate and merchandise. The new Shopping section provides an interactive connection to local retailers.

More interactivity
One of the most exciting features of the site is the extensive interactivity it offers. Visitors have the option of participating in one of many popular forums or posting comments directly to stories and blog entries. Interactivity is especially strong in the Sports section where thousands of visitors debate the hot issues in the forums on a daily basis. The audience is free to choose the way they respond to the news; they can listen to podcasts, watch videos or join the conversation.

Easier to find and use
Also contributing to the record-breaking numbers is the recent redesign of key areas of the site. In response to extensive consumer research, site navigation and layout were reconfigured to make finding information and using features easier than ever.

Growth in key areas
Although the News, Sports and Classifieds sections continue to lead in popularity, other categories of the site have experienced substantial growth. The Living section has seen a surge in traffic with the redesigns of the Travel and Home & Garden sections. Business, with its highly regarded Business Reviews, including the new Tri-Cities Business Review, has also seen a steady increase in traffic. Entertainment, featuring audio podcasts with a local film critic, and a revamped Acoustic Café, has grown remarkably.

Major Michigan newspapers
The extensive news and information on MLive.com is possible because it is the online home of eight daily Michigan newspapers, four Business Review journals and a group of weekly papers. The major daily newspapers include The Ann Arbor News, The Bay City Times, The Flint Journal, The Grand Rapids Press, The Jackson Citizen Patriot, Kalamazoo Gazette, The Muskegon Chronicle and The Saginaw News.

"We have invested in upgrades to the site, using the latest technology and responding to users' input," said Mark Hauptschein, "These investments are producing results. We will continue to add content, enhance the design and facilitate interactivity.
