High Country Outfitters Sponsors Climbing Competition
High Country Outfitters will be sponsoring the 2008 Boat Rock "Float the Boat" bouldering competition on Saturday, January 12.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 7, 2008 -- High Country Outfitters, in cooperation with the Southeast Climbers Coalition, presents the 2008 Boat Rock "Float the Boat" Bouldering Competition. The competition starts at 10:00 on the morning of January 12th. All proceeds go to support this unique boulder field southwest of Atlanta.
Boat Rock is a field of boulders off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard southwest of Atlanta. It offers technically challenging climbing extremely close to Atlanta. The bouldering field has been under increasing pressure from developers, prompting climbers and the Southeast Climbers Coalition to purchase tracts of the land to set aside for climber and recreational use. High Country has helped protect Boat Rock since 1985, with the SCC currently owning 7.8 acres. This tract was paid off with the help of High Country Outfitters during the 2007 Competition and fund raising efforts.
The 2008 "Float the Boat" competition will continue the support for the climbing area and the educational programs held there. Climbers can register for the competition at www.SEClimbers.org. A traditional Float the Boat party will be held at High Country Outfitters the night before the competition.
