(PRWEB) January 9, 2008 -- Today, Tsinghua Tongfang (THTF) announces it is previewing early prototypes of the company's planned LimePC branded 2008 personal computer line at its booth at CES. LimePC products will be launched throughout 2008, and early stage development samples of some of the planned products are on display at the company's CES booth.

LimePC is an all new approach to the personal computer, and will feature models from the world's smallest handheld PC, to the world's first fully-integrated LCD TV PC. Based on an all-new PowerPC microprocessor from Freescale Semiconductor, the LimePC products will bring a completely new level of performance to low-cost consumer personal computers.

"Our goal with LimePC is to use the incredible efficiency of Freescale's new PowerPC microprocessor and a fresh approach to tightly optimized software to create a breakthrough price versus performance benchmark in the low-cost personal computer category," says John Q. Wang, CTO of THTF. "We decided to bring our work-in-process to CES and give an early look at the types of products this new approach makes possible. As our finished LimePC products appear in the market later in the year we believe our efforts will create a major disruption in the PC market, and create an entirely new option for PC users worldwide. Our CES appearance reflects our company's decision to reveal our plans and give the industry a very early stage look at the work we are doing to revolutionize the personal computer."

An example of the LimePC approach is the model M1 handheld computer, which is by far the world's smallest full desktop class PC. At only 110 x 58 x 15.9mm and 130 grams in size and weight, the M1 packs a full PC desktop, touchscreen click and cursor interface, up to 16GB of NAND flash memory, 802.11g WiFi, v2.1 EDR Bluetooth wireless, and 4-plus hours of Lithium Polymer battery power into a package about the size of a deck of playing cards. Anticipated pricing when launched later in 2008 is only $299, making the M1 not only the smallest PC ever manufactured, but one of the most affordable as well.

Slated for formal market entry later this year, the engineering prototypes being shown at CES give a glimpse of the type of LimePC products that will be brought to market. LimePC is THTF's first branded product line to be offered outside of China, and has been engineered to specifically meet the needs of tomorrow's North America and Europe consumers. The LimePC focus on efficient hardware, efficient software, and state of the art wireless connectivity will completely redefine the idea of personal computing.
