Our WFD™ protocol uses a hopping narrow-band approach which gives us the agility we need to ensure best-in-class quality of service and coexistence. That's why we developed HPX™ compression -- so our customers could enjoy the 'sound of uncompressed' without any of the reliability and coexistence down side typically found on wide-band systems.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) January 8, 2008
Eleven Engineering Inc. today announced major additions to the successful Squeak 1.5 family of wireless audio modules for whole house audio and home theater applications. The three new wireless audio modules are based on the ML2724 and ML5800 RF transceivers from RF Micro Devices (NASDAQ GS: RFMD) and the XInC2 multithreaded processor from Eleven.
For home theater applications, Eleven is adding two new stereo module solutions. In the high-performance category Eleven is adding a 5.8GHz solution with 25 meters of indoor range, and in the mass-market category Eleven is adding a 2.4GHz solution with a cost-effective integrated antenna and 15 meters of indoor range. Both of these modules support the customer's choice of one receiver or two-receiver topologies.
In the whole house (multi-room) category Eleven is adding a long-range 50 meter 2.4GHz stereo module. The multi-room solution supports up to four active transmitters in the home concurrently. This means that four music programs may be transmitted in the same home where each of the four sources may be in a different room. Each transmitter supports unlimited receivers with up to four receivers bonded to the transmitter at any one time. Each receiver may bond with any source, giving each receiver random access to any of the four music programs.
All three of the new modules are based on Eleven's market-proven Squeak 1.5 technology, with over three years of mass-production history. Squeak 1.5 has been selected by some of the most respected CE brands in the world, with an array of retail products already widely available in the consumer market. Eleven's new HPX™ audio codec comes as standard equipment on two of the three new modules.
"Eleven is very pleased to collaborate with RFMD on these exciting new additions to the Squeak 1.5 module family. All of the new Squeak 1.5 modules are available in mass production effective immediately and are based on proven silicon from RFMD and Eleven. We have gone to great lengths to deliver the key functions and features being demanded today in whole house and home theater applications while not compromising our narrow band solution approach. Our customers' products enjoy the most consistently positive reviews on the quality of their wireless and lead the industry with the lowest return rates at retail. This is our key selling feature, and we won't compromise it," says John Sobota, CEO of Eleven Engineering. "Our WFD™ protocol uses a hopping narrow-band approach which gives us the agility we need to ensure best-in-class quality of service and coexistence. That's why we developed HPX™ compression -- so our customers could enjoy the 'sound of uncompressed' without any of the reliability and coexistence down side typically found on wide-band systems."
"The Squeak 1.5 module family is a great example of what RFMD's competitive ISM-band product family can enable," says Bob Van Buskirk, president of RFMD's Multi-Market Products Group. RFMD provides 1.5Mbps RF transceivers for the Squeak 1.5 module family and provides hands-on design support that enables Eleven to innovate fast. We believe RFMD's 1.5Mbps transceiver family provides a performance edge in bit rate and stability, and because all of our ISM-band components utilize a common interface, our customers can rapidly migrate their offerings with only minor changes to their software and with no changes to their digital subsystem. For example, Eleven has added 5.8 GHz modules to their existing 2.4GHz module lineup, and their 5.8GHz offering is just as stable and mature on day one as their proven 2.4GHz product."
During CES 2008, Eleven Engineering Inc. will hold daily press sessions on January 8 - 10 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm to review the state of the wireless audio industry. http://www.ElevenEngineering.com for details.
