Crystal Lake, IL (PRWEB) January 12, 2008
Ewa Farjon, founder of Gems & Herbs Holistic Cosmetics Company (http://www.HolisticCosmetics.com), recently spoke at the International Symposium All for Cosmetics 2007, one of Europe's most prestigious cosmetics conferences. Her topic: "Holistic Cosmetics." The symposium, which was organized by the Polish Society of Cosmetic Chemists, took place on November 21 and 22nd in Warsaw, Poland. Ms. Farjon was one of the few non-university-based speakers.
In her talk, Ms. Farjon, whose Crystal Lake, Illinois-based company creates and develops skincare and hair care products that are holistic and natural, spoke about the qualities that make products good for the skin, as opposed to harmful. She pointed out, "Natural skincare and haircare products is one of the fastest growing areas in the cosmetics industry today, and people - especially women - are very concerned about the harmful ingredients in so many products on the market today. They want the products they use to be good for them, and for the environment -- not harmful."
"Because the skin absorbs everything we put on it, skincare products that contain toxic ingredients can cause great harm to the body," she pointed out. "Unfortunately, it is difficult to assess WHICH products are really good for us, and which are not." Many people don't realize that there is no real standard for the cosmetics industry to follow with regard to the use of the words "natural" or "holistic," so they often use these words to describe products that, in fact, contain harmful ingredients.
Ms. Farjon is a trained chemist who has held a master of science degree in chemistry since 1985 and has worked in the cosmetics industry as a formulation chemist. A member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists since 2002, she utilizes her knowledge and experience to develop new products for Gems & Herbs, which are both natural AND holistic. Ms. Farjon is also a Spa Consultant, developing holistic skincare and haircare lines for Spas. She advises her clients so that their products will contain only good, non-toxic ingredients. In March 2007 she was chosen Woman of the Month by Szikagowianka (Chicago Woman) Magazine, a Polish publication.
The Polish Society of Cosmetic Chemists (PSCC) is a member of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC). IFSCC has as its main purpose the dissemination of knowledge and providing support to scientific research in the cosmetics chemistry and related sciences. Says Ms. Farjon, "I am particularly honored that I could speak at this important event."
