Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) January 15, 2008
Virgo Publishing LLC, a business-to-business information services company, announced today that it has named veteran telecom industry journalist Tim McElligott as editor in chief of Billing & OSS World magazine.
McElligott comes to the post after nine years covering billing and OSS, software, testing, signaling and IP-based telephony as senior editor for Telephony magazine. In addition, McElligott was editor of Telephony's Independent, a print magazine chronicling the rural telecom market. His career also includes 14 years in the telecom service provider sector where his duties ranged from central office technician to wireless network engineer.
In his new post at Virgo Publishing, McElligott is charged with content development for Billing & OSS World magazine, the Billing & OSS World Web site, weekly electronic newsletters, Webinars and eBooks, as well as the annual tradeshow, the Billing & OSS World Conference & Expo.
McElligott will be part of the editorial strategy team for Virgo's Telecom Division, which also includes xchange, PHONE+ and New Telephony magazines and the Channel Partners Conference & Expo. Virgo acquired the Billing & OSS World properties from TeleStrategies in September 2007.
"We acquired the Billing & OSS World franchise because we were convinced of the potential for the magazine and the trade show to thrive in today's evolving communications environment given the investment and expertise of a seasoned publishing and events team," said Mike Saxby, group publisher for Virgo's Telecom Division. "Already, we have made significant structural and content improvements in the publication, Web site and educational conference. And, we have forged invaluable strategic partnerships for the 2008 trade show. Bringing Tim McElligott on board to lead the effort is further proof of our commitment to putting together a world-class publication and event. He is a knowledgeable and well respected journalist who also has rare in-the-field experience to inform and ground his editorial efforts."
Beginning next week, Billing & OSS World readers can check out McElligott's blog on the B/OSS World Web site at http://www.billingworld.com.
"I am excited to have this opportunity to join Virgo Publishing and contribute to the continued success and growth of Billing & OSS World and other Virgo publications," said McElligott. "This is an important time for billing and operations support systems as they take center stage in the delivery, management and monetization of the next-generation network. Through Billing & OSS World magazine and our Billing & OSS World Conference & Expo, we are committed to remaining your primary source for telecom software news, analysis and education."
